Name: Saruhiko Fushimi
Canon: K
Canon Point: Fighting Sukuna Gojo with Yata at the end of Return of Kings (season 2)
Age: 20
History: Wikia
Personality: Fushimi is a mess. That’s the simplest way to explain him. Growing up in an abusive household left its marks on the young man and left him incredibly damaged, mentally and emotionally. (Possibly physically, though his strangely pale skin may just be from him refusing to eat vegetables or really anything other than meat and junk food and a general inability to take care of himself.) His mother neglected him, leaving Fushimi with a fear and general dislike of relying on anyone else, and his father was an abusive so-called “genius” who took great delight in destroying anything his son was fond of, which likely explains Fushimi’s possessive tendencies towards Misaki Yata. His friend was the one thing that his father didn’t manage to break, after all. Knowing this makes understanding him a little easier; he does strange things and doesn’t socialize because that is what he knows. That is what is safest to him.
From an early age, Fushimi was forced to strive to beat his cousin and this left him with a very bad taste in mouth towards competition as well as a general sense of laziness. He never wanted to be at the top and now that he isn’t in that situation any more he sees no reason to push himself. He’s smarter than most people, more capable that most people, and pushing himself is just a waste of his time. He’ll still get the work of three men done in half the time.
Fushimi really doesn’t socialize. At all. Ever. There are a grand total of three people alive in Shizume City that he willingly interacts with: his king Reisi Munakata, Yata, and the Red King Anna Kushina, and in the case of Anna it’s less “he will seek her out” and more “it’s Anna and he isn’t going to stop a twelve year old girl and darling of HOMRA from doing what she wants”. As far as Fushimi is concerned, no one outside of those three people are worth his time or respect. Everyone else is a bunch hooligans or idiots and he is not afraid of telling them that to their faces. He isn’t afraid to tell the people he does respect that they’re being idiots, either, though again there is an exception when it comes to Anna. Even Anna, however, gets his cynicism.
He doesn’t believe in heroes or alliances, as his experiences have given him no reason to believe in them. He would rather rely on himself and no one else, as he is the only person he can trust one hundred percent. That doesn’t mean that Fushimi will sabotage a mission or task someone else gave him—if someone else wants to rely on him, that’s their prerogative—it simply means that he isn’t going to be asking for help with it. The one person he did rely on and trust, Yata, seemed to abandon Fushimi like everyone else had and it destroyed what little normalcy the young man had at the time, cementing his ideas about heroes and relying on other people. Yata was the only person who seemed to understand him at the time; in fact, he was the only person Fushimi wanted to understand him, and yet the moment they joined HOMRA and Yata had more friends, Fushimi felt he was abandoned for being difficult and closed off.
The way he is with Anna is the only real indication of something it’s possible Fushimi himself is not entirely aware of. Deep down, beyond the cynicism and emotional instability and general disdain for everyone, Fushimi is a kind person. He doesn’t mind helping Anna when she’s stuck or wants to visit a horse in Scepter 4 custody, he’ll let enemy clansmen wander in blue territory if they’re not doing anything wrong, and when handed an infant he’ll grumble about taking care of it but he won’t actually say “no”. When confronted about this, though, he either ignores it or pretends he was doing it because it benefited him more than not helping.
Honestly, though, it’s best not to confront Fushimi about...anything, really, even if they maybe should. Most people are too afraid to push him, but the fastest way to piss him off is to bring up his “traitor” tendencies or anything else “wrong” with him. Munakata used this to their advantage when planning the infiltration of JUNGLE in season two to make Fushimi’s betrayal seem more realistic since everyone knew better than to bring it up to the young man. He isn’t emotionally stable, or at least he’s willing to play that up in order to get people to leave him alone...or, in the case of Yata, get them to pay attention to him.
Fushimi pretty much does everything he does because of Yata. Yata was his best and only friend for four years and Fushimi would do almost anything for his attention; growing up, Yata was the only thing Fushimi felt was worth something and was worth protecting, moreso than even Fushimi himself. Granted, Fushimi’s never felt he was worth much and pegged his self-worth on how much Yata was paying attention to him. He left HOMRA out of jealousy and felt being hated by Yata was better than losing him completely (and also because he didn’t fit in with HOMRA, though he still paints that with a Yata-brush). It’s implied that his behavior in season one, from the apparent insanity when fighting Yata to the constant taunting and insults aimed at Mikoto when speaking to Yata, was entirely because he knew it would disturb and upset his former best friend and get him to focus on Fushimi, not anyone else; once Mikoto has died, this behavior stops. (While never outright stated, I chose to take this as Fushimi knowing damn well who his biggest rival for Yata’s attention was and with his death, there was no need to go as crazy as he had been.) Interestingly, Fushimi’s behavior at this time seems to be mimicking his abusive father’s treatment of him as a child, from calling Yata by his first name to wearing his hair like Niki Fushimi had. Given his past circumstances, it’s very likely that this was the only way he knew to show Yata he didn’t need him. He knew this would upset Yata the most.
It’s a prime example of how ruthless Fushimi can be, too. He doesn’t have any issues knocking a high school girl out to use her biodata to get into a computer system, he’ll attack a kid with the intent to kill if it’s him or the kid, and he’ll follow Munakata’s plan even if it means everyone hates him. He doesn’t care. Getting the job done or achieving his goal is the most important thing.
Abilities: Fushimi is a special snowflake and has at least two, possibly three “auras” where most clansmen have one.
Red Aura: From his days in HOMRA, Fushimi is able to use the red aura. This aura is essentially a fire wall that can burn anything in its path. Fushimi seems to be able to channel this into his throwing knives.
Blue Aura: The aura Fushimi most frequently uses, the exact nature of the blue aura is a little unclear. It allows users to channel it into their swords and attack a wide area at once. Fushimi is able to channel this into his throwing knives as well, using them to make a protective force field. The Blue King is able to use it to do more than that, such as making platforms for him to climb, but we’re not shown if regular members can do that.
Green Aura: Although he’s never seen using it, Fushimi is granted J rank in the Green Clan and therefore has the ability to utilize the green aura. It’s electricity based, seemingly, and it also allows them to manipulate physics to some degree. People seen using it are able to phase through objects and walk on walls. Again, though Fushimi is never seen using it, at his canon point he does have it.
Swordsmanship: All members of Scepter 4 are skilled swordsmen.
Knife-throwing: His weapon of choice as a member of HOMRA. He keeps them even after leaving HOMRA and "betraying" Scepter 4. They’re usually hidden all over his body.
Computer Skills: Fushimi is the tech brain of Scepter 4, having once been a top gamer in a mobile app and very nearly hacking into the JUNGLE app when he was sixteen. When the situation calls for it, he’s usually in a mobile base with Scepter 4’s computers.
Intelligence: He’s one of the more intelligent members of either HOMRA or Scepter 4, though the words "brilliant but lazy" come to mind when describing him. He can do it, it’s just a matter of getting him to care about it.
Strengths:
-Intelligent
-Agile
-Focused
-Able to keep a cool head
-Loyal if you deserve it
Weaknesses:
-Unstable (to a degree)
-Immature (emotionally)
-Detached from pretty much everything
-Ruthless
-Clingy
God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: Fushimi’s thing is being a clansman. He has issues with loyalty, sure, but he’s not a leader by any stretch of the imagination.
Cause Of Death: He’s killed by Sukuna Gojo at the end of season 2, when he and Yata are fighting the boy
Vessel: Sword
Name Location: Right collarbone, his left has finger-shaped burn scars.
Power: Tactical advantage by way of making spotting weaknesses and optimal points of attack easier. If they’re fighting in an alley, for example, holding Fushimi would let his god see how best to get to the higher ground to attack the ayakashi’s head.
